Our initial check up appointment involves carrying out a comprehensive extra oral and an intra oral examination. Inside the mouth we examine both the teeth and the soft tissues looking for any abnormalities, including mouth cancer.
We also check your teeth for any abnormal wear and check the state of your gums including the support structure of your teeth (periodontal health).
In relation to the teeth, we provide you with oral hygiene advice along with appropriate dietary recommendations.
We have a diagnostic intra-oral camera and computer. This allows our patients to follow their dental treatment more clearly on a television screen. We feel patient’s are much more relaxed when they understand the nature of their dental problem and understand the dental treatment proposed. Treatment at our practice is never hurried. We carry out all treatment to a very high standard.
We use modern equipment and our Dentist routinely uses Special Magnification lenses with enhanced Fibre Optic Illumination in order to see the patient’s mouth more clearly. This undoubtedly helps to deliver superior quality dentistry.
Sterilisation procedures are strict using an autoclave and we follow British Dental Association and CQC, recommended guidelines with regard to sterilisation of instruments, cross infection control and use of disposable items such as suction tips, patient bibs, instrument trays, plastic cups, etc. Our dental practice is Care Quality Comission compliant.

New Digital Intra Oral and Extra Oral X-ray Systems
We have both direct and indirect digital X-ray systems. We have recently introduced the schick Digital intra oral X- ray system to our practice. This allows us to take X rays with much reduced exposure in comparison with a conventional film (one-tenth the exposure of a normal film based X-ray) and the X rays appear instantly on a computer screen.
We also have a Durr VistaScan phosphor plate digital X-ray system. We have recently invested in a Sirona Orthophos direct digital panoramic X-ray unit. This gives us a very clear scan image of the whole mouth.
Sirona Scanner
Sirona Primescan scanner recently introduced for taking digital impressions. This helps us to construct accurate Cad/Cam restorations.
LED TV Screen
We have a flat TV panel mounted on the ceiling over the patient’s chair, for patient’s to view a relaxing DVD or TV programme whilst they have their dental treatment. For you as a patient, this will help you relax and take your mind off the dental treatment being performed.
